The Duratec water rail casting replaces the standard water outlet, allowing the water from the rear of the cylinder head to be taken to the front of the engine, simplifying all in-line conversions.

The most common way to run the Duratec water rail is to leave the thermostat in the standard Duratec engine position (albeit we tend to swap over to the Cosworth 82° Duratec thermostat) and then leave out the thermostat in the water rail thermostat housing. Alternatively, the water rail casting can be used with a standard crossflow-type thermostat housing arrangement and thermostat with the thermostat removed from the standard Duratec position.

Raceline has also produced a cast thermostat housing that is 64mm tall, shorter than the OE Ford thermostat housing, allowing for added bonnet clearance for 2.3 and 2.5 applications. Raceline also stocks a range of thermostat elbows should the application have a filler in the radiator or if a header tank is being used.

The large cross sectional area of the rail accommodates all performance levels inc turbo and supercharged applications. The rail has cast-in coil pack mount legs on the rear of the casting which can be removed if the coil pack is to be fitted elsewhere (eg where bulk head clearance is an issue). The rail comes drilled and taped with 1/8^th NPT take-offs for engine management and gauge senders and a 3/8^th NPT heater boss. Blanking plugs are available if these bosses if not required. The Duratec water rail is complex casting manufactured for us from LM25 aluminium by a leading motorsport foundry.
